Google had just announced its new sharing service - "Google +1". The service simply allow user to tell the others you found something cool online and would like to recommend (similar to the concept of Facebook Like button) it to the others.
User will start to see the +1 button icon starting to show up in their search result from Google.
User can interact with the service by clicking on the +1 button and the link / URL will be shared!
A new +1 tab will then be appear on user's Google Profile and user will be able to find their previously +1 sites listed within the tab
The difference between Google's +1 service and the other social media sharing buttons (facebook Like, Twtter's tweet button, and LinkedIn's share button) is that +1 allows users to Like or recommend a link upon their search results (as long as they are sign-in with their Google account), in addition user can also recommend Ads (which can be handy for spammers).
Currently Google is linking the +1 service to the Google user profile, but not to Google Buzz. Google did mention the +1 button will be available for individual sites, so user can share or recommend their pages easier. You can sign up here so when the service is available Google will send you a notification email.
Google is definitely late to the game in terms of social sharing (look at how many sites already have the Facebook Like button), however this new social sharing service is definitely an innovative idea. I am not surprise Yahoo! or Bing may follow this concept and implement something similar. In addition it will be nice to see how the +1 service will do in the long run and how Facebook and other social networking services react to this service.
User can join the +1 experiment here and start testing out +1 service.
Currently the +1 service ONLY available in google.com (localization Google search sites do not support this feature just yet, even you joined the experiment). User can access the main google site via the bottom right link on your localize Google search site
